At our Terrific Tuesday meeting we enjoyed Artisan Bread and Cheesy Garlic Bread. Artisan bread is very native and basic. It was fun to try something new!
Basic Bread Recipe
10 cups white unbleached flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 Tablespoon salt
3 rounded tablespoons instant yeast
3 Tablespoons liquid lecithin
4 cups hot tap water
Put water, sugar, salt & yeast in mixer, add 5 cups flour, mix slightly, add lecithin and remaining flour. Mix for 1 minute and check consistency. If dough is too dry, add more water. If dough is too moist add more flour. Mix for 5 more minutes. (Do not add water or flour to the dough after it has finished mixing.) Spray spot on counter and baking pans with cooking spray. Shape loaves and cover with a dish towel. Let raise 25 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 23-25 minutes. This recipe makes four loaves of bread.
Notes; with the lecithin (we have it at the health food store here in Ellensburg), do not measure it, just pour 3 blobs the size of a quarter into the ingredients in the mixer.
This bread recipe can be cut in half so it can be mixed in a Kitchen Aide style mixer.
For whole wheat bread, use the same recipe but add one cup of applesauce as part of the hot water. Mix for 10 to 15 minutes.
For Cheesy Garlic Bread I put the ingredients in a small sauce pan to simmer while I am mixing my bread;
Filling
1/2 cup butter
2 Tablespoons minced garlic (in the jar)
2 Tablespoons parsley (dried)
1 teaspoon Rosemary
Pour and spread onto rolled out dough and sprinkle with about 2 cups of shredded cheese before rolling.
Divide dough into 4 equal parts. 2 parts can be made into bread loaves or rolls and the remaining 2 parts I make cheesy bread. You can roll it like cinnamon rolls, braid it by laying the entire roll onto the baking sheet then cutting carefully in half and chris-crossing the two pieces. Be sure to pinch bread together at seams.
For the Artisan Bread I have attached a link to the blog that I used.

This is a very good basic recipe.

GRATITUDE CONTINUED
Take a Gratitude Challenge
By John Hilton III and Anthony Sweat
Let’s not just talk about counting our blessings—let’s do it! Write a list of 100 things you are thankful for. If that sounds like it is too many, try this:
1 -Write 10 physical abilities you are grateful for.
2 -Write 10 material possessions you are grateful for.
3 - Write 10 living people you are grateful for.
4 - Write 10 deceased people you are grateful for.
5 - Write 10 things about nature you are grateful for.
6 - Write 10 things about today you are grateful for.
7 - Write 10 places on earth you are grateful for.
8 - Write 10 modern inventions you are grateful for.
9 - Write 10 foods you are grateful for.
10 - Write 10 things about the gospel you are grateful for.
When we make a list like this, we discover that a list of 100 doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of all the things God has given us.
GRATITUDE
Relief Society Lesson "GRATITUDE" June 3, 2012 taught by Belinda Jo Jackson
Gratitude is the thankful appreciation for favors received (dictionary definition) and also the acknowledging and confessing with joy and gladness of the benefits and mercies which God bestows upon his children (Mormon Doctrine).
After passing out paper and pencils she asked us to write done five things that we are gratiful for.
Elder Oaks in his conference talk "Give Thanks in All Things" lists twelve things that we should be thankful for (see May 2003 Ensign page 95) -
1- Knowing we are Children of God
2 - The Savior Jesus Christ
3 - The true Gospel of Christ
4 - Commandments
5 - Revelation
6 - Trails and Afflictions
7 - All Things
8 - Priesthood
9 - Family
10 - The Gift of the Holy Ghost
11 - Freedom
12 - Prosperity
President Eyring is his conference talk "O Remember, Remember" gives the following story about starting to write in his gratitute journal -

President Eyring is his conference talk "O Remember, Remember" gives the following story about starting to write in his gratitute journal -
When our children were very small, I started to write down a few things about what happened every day. Let me tell you how that got started. I came home late from a Church assignment. It was after dark. My father-in-law, who lived near us, surprised me as I walked toward the front door of my house. He was carrying a load of pipes over his shoulder, walking very fast and dressed in his work clothes. I knew that he had been building a system to pump water from a stream below us up to our property.
He smiled, spoke softly, and then rushed past me into the darkness to go on with his work. I took a few steps toward the house, thinking of what he was doing for us, and just as I got to the door, I heard in my mind—not in my own voice—these words: “I’m not giving you these experiences for yourself. Write them down.”
I went inside. I didn’t go to bed. Although I was tired, I took out some paper and began to write. And as I did, I understood the message I had heard in my mind. I was supposed to record for my children to read, someday in the future, how I had seen the hand of God blessing our family. Grandpa didn’t have to do what he was doing for us. He could have had someone else do it or not have done it at all. But he was serving us, his family, in the way covenant disciples of Jesus Christ always do. I knew that was true. And so I wrote it down, so that my children could have the memory someday when they would need it.
I wrote down a few lines every day for years. I never missed a day no matter how tired I was or how early I would have to start the next day. Before I would write, I would ponder this question: “Have I seen the hand of God reaching out to touch us or our children or our family today?” As I kept at it, something began to happen. As I would cast my mind over the day, I would see evidence of what God had done for one of us that I had not recognized in the busy moments of the day. As that happened, and it happened often, I realized that trying to remember had allowed God to show me what He had done.
More than gratitude began to grow in my heart. Testimony grew. I became ever more certain that our Heavenly Father hears and answers prayers. I felt more gratitude for the softening and refining that come because of the Atonement of the Savior Jesus Christ. And I grew more confident that the Holy Ghost can bring all things to our remembrance—even things we did not notice or pay attention to when they happened. (November 2007 Ensign page 66)
A Gratitude Journal is a way to consciously call attention to the things for which we are thankful for each day. By focusing on gratitutde, we become aware of those things and thus create a shift in our thinking to the positive.
Did God send a message that was just for you? Did you see His hand in your life and the lives of your children? Preserve that memory in a Gratitude Journal for that day that you or those that you love will need to remember how much God loves us and how much we need him.

Special Cake Mix Cake Joyce
Alm
Ingredients
1 cake
mix – your choice
1 package
of Jello – your choice
1 package
of Jello Instant Pudding – your choice
1 package
of Cool Whip
1 cup
cold milk
Directions
·
Bake the cake according to instructions on
box. After baked poke holes in cake and pour over with the
following.
·
Mix
together 1 package jello (your choice) and 1 cup boiling water. Let
it cool a bit then pour over cake. ( I
use a syringe and fill it with the jello and then inject it into my cake. No
needle, just the tip on the syringe.)
·
Mix the
instant pudding with 1 cup cold
milk. (I like to use the cheesecake
pudding mix.) Then mix the pudding
with the Cool Whip and pour over the cake.
·
You can top
with raspberries, blue berries or whatever fruit you would like or just leave
it with the pudding and cool whip topping.
You can
get real fancy and use strawberry jello and then slice strawberries on top of
the cake after you have injected it. Then put the cool whip and pudding
mixture over that and then decorate with extra strawberries. You can let your imagination
run away with you and use whatever flavor you want to make this cake. (I
was thinking of chocolate in some way :))
Ease fruit salad. Joyce
